With the global trend in the semiconductor industry, equipment information security has become a key focus for semiconductor wafer manufacturers. The SEMI International Semiconductor Industry Association gathered a team of experts to develop the international semiconductor wafer equipment cybersecurity standard SEMI E187 in 2022. Simultaneously, through the SEMI Taiwan Semiconductor Cybersecurity Committee, along with TSMC and ITRI, revisions were made to the SEMI E187 standard, providing clear guidelines for cybersecurity protection of semiconductor equipment. The standard covers four major aspects: operating systems, endpoint protection, network security, and security monitoring, while also promoting a verification mechanism to establish a more comprehensive review system.

FAVITE has long been committed to building a secure and reliable production environment, actively implementing advanced cybersecurity architectures such as collaborative defense and zero trust in the field of cybersecurity, and establishing a rigorous vulnerability protection network. The successful acquisition of the SEMI E187 VoC certificate proves FAVITE’s investment and achievements in cybersecurity. In addition to SEMI E187, FAVITE has also passed the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System certification, further strengthening the company’s cybersecurity management system to ensure the production and information security of customers with the highest standards of cybersecurity protection.

In the future, FAVITE will continue to invest resources to deepen its cybersecurity protection capabilities and actively participate in the development and promotion of relevant industry standards, working with customers to build a safe and reliable semiconductor industry ecosystem.

The 31st Small and Medium Enterprise Innovation Research Award, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, held its award ceremony on the 20th of this month. FAVITE Inc., a domestic automated optical inspection and measurement (AOI) company, won the Innovation Research Award for its outstanding technology in Micro LED mass transfer post-inspection and measurement. The award was personally presented by Minister of Economic Affairs J.W. Kuo, recognizing FAVITE’s many years of R&D investment in the Micro LED inspection and measurement field.

Currently, most Micro LED AOI can only detect defects in the Micro LED Chip on Wafer (COW) stage. However, benefiting from years of deep accumulation in image processing and machine vision, FAVITE can address the different arrangements, rotations, and offsets of chips after Carrier on Carrier (COC) re-placement. Facing tens of millions of chips with defects as small as 1 micrometer (1μm) and extremely subtle defect features, FAVITE adopted its self-developed AI AOI detection technology to overcome the problem of traditional algorithms struggling to identify defects in specific situations. At the same time, they deeply optimized the product’s user experience, ultimately winning the recognition of the judging panel and successfully achieving the honor of the “Innovation Research Award.”

FAVITE INC., established in 2000, has been in operation for nearly 25 years. It is currently a key AOI supplier to major panel manufacturers on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. In recent years, it has expanded its business to include Micro LED/Micro OLED, advanced semiconductor packaging, and IC substrates, providing customers with the most accurate and efficient inspection and metrology solutions, making FAVITE AOI the quality guardian of smart manufacturing.

With the rapid advancement of AI technology, the semiconductor industry and related technology sectors are moving towards a more refined and complex stage of development, leading to an increasing demand for optical inspection talent. To cultivate optical professionals that meet industry needs, FAVITE, a leading domestic AOI equipment manufacturer, is actively investing in optical education. They have partnered with the Department of Physics at Chung Yuan Christian University, donating optical inspection components worth over NT$15 million to jointly build a top-tier optical inspection talent development platform in Taiwan.

To recognize FAVITE’s contribution to education, Chung Yuan Christian University presented a Crystal Award in accordance with the “Regulations on Awards for Donations to Educational Enterprises” issued by the Ministry of Education. Chairman Chang Kuang-cheng of Chung Yuan Christian University personally presented the award during the Alumni Day, expressing gratitude for FAVITE’s generous donation and affirming the deep friendship between the two parties in industry-academia collaboration.

Vice President Tzu-yueh Wangof FAVITE stated, “Receiving the Ministry of Education’s Crystal Award is an affirmation of FAVITE’s investment in optical education. In the future, we will continue to maintain close cooperation with academia to cultivate more outstanding optical talent for Taiwan and jointly promote the development of Taiwan’s optical inspection industry.”

Through the collaborative investment of industry and academia, it is believed that not only will more learning resources and opportunities be provided to young students, cultivating the future workforce in the field of optical inspection, but also Taiwan will continue to play a crucial core role in the global semiconductor industry chain.
